Forensic Psychology Ltd is an independent expert witness service specialising in the application of forensic clinical psychology and neuropsychology to criminal justice and related civil processes in Aotearoa New Zealand. The service provides clear, evidence-based psychological reports to assist courts, counsel and statutory agencies to make decisions in serious and complex matters involving adults aged eighteen years and over.

Reports draw on forensic, clinical and neuropsychological expertise to address questions about the presence and impact of mental disorder and neurodevelopmental conditions, the pathways that may have contributed to offending, the risk of serious harm, realistic management and treatment options, fitness to stand trial, the possible relevance of insanity and other mental impairment provisions, and appropriate sentencing and release options.

Work commonly involves serious interpersonal violence, family violence, sexual offending, stalking and persistent rule-breaking in the context of psychosis, major mood disorder, personality disorder, substance misuse, intellectual disability, ADHD, autism, acquired brain injury and other complex presentations.

Instructions are accepted via courts, lawyers and recognised agencies rather than directly from individuals involved in proceedings, reflecting the medico-legal nature of the work and the need for clear terms of reference, documentation and funding arrangements.

Forensic Psychology Ltd is directed by Dr Clare Brindley, MA (Hons), MSc, PhD, MNZPsS, a registered clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist with over twenty-five years of forensic and clinical experience. Dr Brindley is widely regarded as a careful, balanced and highly experienced medico-legal expert.
